Last week, Cadillac and Public School NYC came together in Dubai for an event that fused fashion and cars in the most seamless way possible, drawing parallels in design between the two different industries. As it turns out, they’re not so different, fashion and cars.
Celebrating the global reveal of their new XT5 Crossover SUV, Cadillac partnered with Public School NYC to present the fashion label’s first pre-fall collection and first runway show overseas. Editors, bloggers, photographers, auto dealers and GM employees from around the world traveled to Dubai to attend the event, which took place in the city’s new design district, d3.
The Public School NYC pre-fall 2016 collection followed designer duo Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne’s usual aesthetic of clean lines and a long, lean silhouette. Inspired by Dubai as the location for the collection’s debut, Chow and Osborne investigated the relationship between nature and technology. Noting that the city is home to the tallest building in the world, which is right on the edge of endless desert.
Following the runway show, the set opened up to unveil the new Cadillac XT5 on stage. The first of its kind – a comprehensively upgraded luxury crossover and the cornerstone of a new series of crossovers in the brand’s ongoing expansion.
“The all-new XT5 not only enters the most popular segment in the worldwide luxury auto market, it is the first of four new crossovers from Cadillac,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “It’s pivotal to our ongoing growth, which is why we’ve developed XT5 from the inside out to provide customers more space, more technology, more luxury and more efficiency.”
